This program is a focused review and update on the knowledge base regarding intervertebral disc pathology, based on current research. The goals of the twelve hours are to: ensure an expert level of disc evaluation on plain film x-rays, including when to request advanced imaging procedures, and how to establish an evidence-based approach to patient adjustments and management, including active rehabilitation.

Using x-ray films, pathological slides, and other images, Drs. Seron and Hyland will discuss differential diagnoses and management options, present clinical decision points for obtaining consultations and advanced imaging, and demonstrate treatment techniques (including exercises) for the various types of spinal disc pathologies that are seen in chiropractors' offices. You will leave this presentation with new knowledge and awareness, and a new set of skills to handle even your toughest patients.

Dr. Margaret Seron has maintained a consulting radiology practice in Denver, CO for more than 20 years and has also taught radiology as a faculty member for two chiropractic colleges. She has authored many articles as well as a chapter in all three editions of the textbook "Essentials of Skeletal Radiology." Dr. Seron is a staff radiologist at Stand Up MRI of America and presents seminars on chiropractic radiology and advanced imaging to chiropractors throughout the United States and Canada.

John K. Hyland, DC, MPH
Dr. John Hyland is an expert in the active rehabilitation of chiropractic. He was the developer and director of four chiropractic rehabilitation practices for over eight years. Now, Dr. Hyland consults, advises, and trains doctors of chiropractic in the concepts and procedures of spinal rehabilitation. He will share with you those things that have worked, and he will also talk about the things that did not.
